Nutrition & Feeding 

As a family, we have started to do a lot of research about leading a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy and putting healthy habits into our daily life. We learned that how we eat, how we handle food and what ingredients that what we put into our bodies really does have an effect on the quality of life that we lead.

 As we were learning about human health, we also did a lot of research about our dogs and their food. The Lord has given us a privilege to be the stewards of some amazing German Shepherd Dogs and we truly care about their well being and their health.  Because nutrition plays a big role we did our research about dog food and wanted to find good quality nutrition to feed our dogs for them to lead a quality life. While we went from one food brand to another we did not know which was better because  each brand had their pros and cons and we really just did not know which food was worth feeding to our dogs and our puppies.   By God’s goodness we had met a professional dog trainer who introduced us to Life’s Abundance dog food. 

 

Life’s Abundance dog food was established in 1999 by a holistic veterinarian Dr. Jane Bicks, DVM 

She took a holistic approach and she wanted to put the ingredients into each bag of food that would benefit the dog's health! This meant finding the best quality ingredients at an affordable price AND eliminating ingredients that were commonly found in dog food like corn, wheat, wheat gluten, chemical preservatives, artificial colors and fillers.

 

 You can trust that  every ingredient in the formula is there for a nutritional value for your dog. And, because they use nourishing wholesome ingredients, the formula does not contain corn or corn gluten, no wheat or wheat gluten and no artificial flavors and colors. There is a specific amount for each ingredient.  You can trust that what is on the ingredient list is really in the kibble. The scary thing about other dog food companies is that they tell you what ingredients are in the dog food by the picture they use and the marketing on the front of the bag but, might actually use other ingredients and fillers that we may never know of. It is just hard to know what is actually in dog food unless you really know who is making it. For example, they may have a picture of blueberries on the bag but ,when you look at the guaranteed analysis, you don’t see blueberries until the very end of the ingredient list. And, because they are required to put the ingredients in order of the highest quantity first, you may find out that there are very few blueberries actually in the food and probably are not adding to the nutrition at all.

 

 According to  (FDA, AVMA, DogFoodAdvisor), Life’s Abundance has never had a recall because they test every batch of food they make. A big problem in the mass produced dog food industry is staleness (staleness = lack of nutrition).   Life’s Abundance  dog food is cooked every few days in small batches and that means when you receive this food it is only 3 to 4 weeks old VS if you buy dog kibble from a local store it may be from 6 months to a year old or older!  That is why you will never find one of their bags at a local store. It is meant to be served as a fresher, more nutritious meal to your dog.

 

When it comes to price we learned it's not about comparing the cost of a bag of food but, it's about the actual cost per “feeding”.When we were doing our research, we came across that every feeding label was different, and we wondered why. Now we know why…It is because of nutritional value. The better the food quality the less you need to feed your dog. And by the way, we can guarantee  that means picking up less poop!
